= "pornea"; a general word for sex outside of marriage
C. Uncleanness (NIV
Impurity)
= moral impurity in thought, word, or deed
D. Lasciviousness (NIV
Debauchery) = a love of sin that is so reckless and
so audacious that
a person no longer cares what God or man thinks II.
Religious Sins (20)
A. Idolatry
= when a person worships something created instead
of the Creator
B. Sorcery (NIV Withcraft)
= Greek word "pharmakeia" III.
Relationship Sins (20-21)
A. Hatred
= the opposite of agape love
B. Strife (NIV Discord)
= the result of hatred; broken relationships
C. Jealousy
= lit. "zeal"; but selfish zeal; self-centered jealousy
D. Wrath (NIV Fits of
rage)
= result of jealousy; an outburst of temper
E. Factions (NIV Selfish
ambition)
= rivalry; promoting yourself at the expense of others
F. Seditions (NIV
Dissensions)
= dissension; a standing apart
G. Heresies (NIV Factions)
= being "cliquey"
H. Envyings (NIV Envy)
= a wrongful desire to possess what belongs to
someone else
I. Murders (not in oldest
manuscripts)
= the ultimate expression of selfishness IV.
Reckless Sins (21)
A. Drunkenness
= being controlled by foreign substances
B. Revelings (NIV Orgies)
